About (Me)shach
Born on the Bayou
Son of a Preacher
Louisiana’s sweaty palms welcomed me into the world, and my parents’ wild and unpredictable lives the ceaseless winds of change tossed me through the South with my evangelical, vagabond family of preachers, runaways, and misfits until I was old enough to escape the circus and join the office ride the wave on my own.
My musical journey began at 4 years old, standing on a tiny stage in a south Texas revival church. I sang screamed into the microphone with all my heart, barely able to see the people on the second row as I tip-toed. Later in my bunkbed, I wrote my first song to the factory beats of my first Casio keyboard. I was hooked.
Music became my excuse to disappear refuge, and as I grew, I continued to suck honed my craft by singing alongside my mom's piano accompaniment and learning to work the crowd let the spirit lead as I opened for my dad's powerful sermons.
At 21, I set out on my own musical quest switched from church stages to club stages, armed with an acoustic guitar and a bag full of effect pedals. Living life on the road, I played solo shows across the country, crashing on friends' couches and living out of my car between gigs. This nomadic lifestyle fueled my creativity, and I poured my experiences and emotions into every song I wrote continued to suck for a long time.
Throughout my journey, I tried to sound like anyone else embraced new sounds and explored diverse musical realms. From stalking the best players discovering jazz in Austin's Elephant Room to annoying every musician I met with endless questions learning about the business side of music in Nashville, every place I visited felt like involuntary bootcamp left its mark on my artistic path.
Today, I'm overly-proud mildly obsessed fully-immersed in a couple of passion projects. Meshach & the Make Believe is where I let loose — an energetic, a sweaty, funky, and wild party band that never fails to entertain doesn’t suck.
And then there's Splendid Ghost, a very special project years-long collaboration with guitarist songwriter producer multi-instrumentalist Michael Scott and the powerhouse pop soul vocalist Meredith McHenry. Together, we create heartfelt melodies and lush tapestries of heartbreaking love songs.
Catch me and my bands in action around the Bay Area and beyond. Expect an unforgettable experience where my revival roots meet an eclectic and heartfelt sound. Let's create something extraordinary together.
Contact me for bookings — I’ll bring my friends. I’ll tell you some wild stories. Let's make believe.
